A 2023 systematic review of combination laser treatments found that Er:YAG plus Nd:YAG was among the commonly studied combinations and often compared favourably with a single laser. However, studies used different devices and settings, and the authors called for stronger trials. A 2020 systematic review also found objective tissue-remodelling changes after non-ablative Er:YAG, while stressing that study quality and protocols varied.
